Definately beware of the random drugs tests, but also be aware that you are subject to random alcohol tests when you come back onto the ship, even in the crew bar. Anything over a .04% BA is grounds for dismissal.

The food is bad, the hours are many- that said, it's a lot of fun, and a great way to save money!

If they dismiss you, they are going to drop you off at the next port. They will not allow you contact with other workers so that there is no "mutiny" attitude on board. If you quit, you are required to disembark at the next port as well.

Yep. If you're fired, you're booted off at whatever port you're in, or will be arriving to the next morning...up a creek with no paddle.

I'm not speaking from personal experience, but know fellow crew members who found themselves in those very situations.

Same applies for if you quit. Gotta find your own way home. The nice thing about working through your contract...is they will fly you to and from your hometown at the expense of the company.
